Queensland Police probe suspicious death after five-month-old baby found dead in Brisbane home

Queensland Police are investigating the suspicious death of a baby girl who was found dead at a home in Brisbane’s inner-south last month.
Paramedics and police were called to the unit complex at King Street in Annerley by the girl’s mother on November 16 after 8am where they found the five-month-old unconscious and not breathing.
A 32-year-old woman who lived at the unit block is assisting police with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Rod Watts said on Sunday morning the baby girl was last seen alive at the nearby Buranda shopping centre the day before her death.
He said she appeared “happy and healthy” while at the centre about 5pm on November 15, and “something has happened” leading to her death between then and 8am the next day.
Detective Inspector Watts said he was “not prepared to go into” details about the medical evidence, but that the cause of death was “undetermined” and police were treating it as suspicious.
“Something has happened to that child which is suspicious,” he told reporters.
“That child was happy and healthy one afternoon and the next day the child was deceased at home … this is not a natural death.”
Investigators launched the homicide appeal on Sunday and urged anyone with information, including neighbours or relatives, to come forward.
