Is the morning, afternoon or evening more beneficial for exercising and if so why?

I'm tempting to say the morning, but actually it would be anytime - aside from the hours near bedtime. For some reason, the body just shuts down a few hours before bedtime I think. O.K., only in the Army would they make someone exercise then - mainly to toughen them up for war.

I am tempted to say morning, especially just after you've woke up. Most people wake up half asleep, so this is the best time to compose yourself in the early hours fully. Any time of today is good, though.
